Board of Directors

Bob Goldberg

Bob Goldberg served as general counsel to the Business Technology Association (BTA) for nearly five decades, becoming one of the most respected legal voices in the office technology industry. Beginning his work with BTA in the late 1970s, Goldberg provided practical legal guidance on commercial, contractual, and industry-specific issues to dealers and suppliers across the United States. Known for his steady judgment, deep understanding of industry dynamics, and personal commitment to the community, he became a trusted advisor to multiple generations of business leaders. Throughout his tenure, Goldberg was valued not only for his legal expertise but also for his mentorship and accessibility, offering BTA members counsel on a wide range of business matters and contributing to the association’s stability and growth. He retired from his role in 2024 after 47 years of service, leaving a legacy of professional dedication and personal relationships within the BTA and the wider industry

Mark Grice

Mark Grice is the Executive Director of the International Business Products, Inc. (IBPI), the largest buying group serving independent commercial print and office technology dealers in North America. He began his career in the imaging industry in 1999 as Director of Finance and Administration for CopyFax in Jacksonville, Florida, where he gained experience across all facets of the business and eventually served as Executive Vice President. Grice later joined IBPI in 2016 to lead the organization, applying his background in marketing and operations to advance member services and supplier relationships. Based in Jacksonville, he remains active in industry initiatives and member-focused partnerships that support dealer competitiveness and growth.

Kevin Van Kannel

Kevin Van Kannel is President of UTEC, a position he assumed only after exhausting nearly every other possible career option. His early professional years were marked by a relentless curiosity and an apparent inability to say no to odd jobs. Kevin briefly pursued higher education before leaving to start a niche career as a mall-kiosk technology demonstrator, where he perfected the art of explaining complex solutions to people who were “just looking.” From there, he transitioned into a short but spirited run as a regional office chair ergonomics consultant, adjusting armrests while offering unsolicited business advice.

In the early 2000s, Kevin reportedly took on multiple side hustles, including freelance network cable untangler, copier whisperer, and emergency PowerPoint fixer for executives five minutes before board meetings. He later accepted a contract role as a “managed services futurist,” which mostly involved predicting outages moments after they happened. After a brief stint testing demo equipment that would never ship on time, Kevin finally found his calling in leadership, discovering that running a company was far more efficient than explaining why the machine should work.

Today, Kevin channels that eclectic background into leading UTEC with confidence, patience, and a deep understanding of what not to do.

Andy Slawetsky

Andy Slawetsky, Chairman of the Board, serves as President and Chief Editor of Industry Analysts, Inc., publisher of IndustryAnalysts.com, a leading news and analysis source for the office technology and imaging channel. Since taking on this role, Slawetsky has focused on providing timely, practical coverage of the manufacturers, independent dealers, vendors, and service providers that make up the business technology industry. Slawetsky has helped expand the publication’s reach through written coverage, video interviews, podcasts, and event reporting. Known for his straightforward approach and long-standing relationships across the channel, Slawetsky brings a dealer-focused perspective shaped by years of hands-on industry involvement.
